Akismet and Home

No, Akismet is not my home. I just wanted to blog about my plans for the next couple of weeks and my experience on using the new anti-spam plugin from Matt Wullenberg called Akismet. This blog will probably be abandoned for a week or so because I will be going home to Cirebon and then Jakarta consecutively so it will be quite hard to find a decent internet connection. Plus, with the expectation on launching the new blog after lebaran, it’s a busy - busy - busy for me :).

Plus, I have replaced the WPBayes anti-spam plugin that worked fantastically for the last couple of weeks. I replaced it with Akismet, a new anti-spam plugin by the founder of Wordpress. For what I read, Akismet is using a familiar method that WPBayes uses, which is a script that can learn from past mistakes. And since Akismet is a centralized anti-spam plugin, I’m pretty sure the rate of learning from past mistake is even faster than the previous plugin. Well, let’s just crosses fingers.

Your blog should be fine - I’ve not had a any spam published after a month of testing.

kewl!
so like…when are you going back to cirebon dude?

I dont know why, I prefer using old method : “manual” keywords filters :)

(and the keyword list is growing bigger everyweek)

@amalia: I’m hoping that my lebaran can be spend with books and books and books and internet :), but unfortunately I can’t :(. I have some different views regarding lebaran, will post later.

@Rich: I hope so :)

@seven: I’m already at cirebon!

@andry: My list is also going bigger and bigger until I can’t pin down the exact word for the spam which is becoming irritating because they are using somewhat a generic keywords.

wtf??!?!?
you’re already in cirebon? that’s kewl!
i’m still stuck in bandung…at least until 30th nov. sighs!!!
it’s just uncool.
let’s see…like…28 oct is the last day of classes, but i have a midtest at 29 oct, so i’d probably go home to cirebon at 30 oct…31-1-2 at cirebon…3 nove already lebaran…
what the!?!?!?
so little time!

I just got out uf mid test yesterday and the campus-wide mid-test ends today. I actually got my holiday on 31st of October, I don’t know wether tomorrow the teacher will have a class or not since we already undergone the test. Well, let’s just cross fingers.

i used spam karma 2. You should try spam karma 2 :)

@dudi: I’ve tried that sometime ago and it did not work well with k2 theme I’m using. I’m guessing it got something to do with the AJAX commenting system I was using (but taken down several days ago).

Akismet will do just fine for me :)

Oskar, it has been almost 18 months since you posted about Akismet. It would be great to hear back from you and get an update as to how you’ve found this particular plugin - and whether it has lived up to it’s claims in your opinion.

I know exactly When it started, but not Why. I was participating in Open Comment Night over as Successful Blog and had No Problems. But after I left and answered a comment on my own blog, My comment didn’t show.
