Learning to Trade is VERY Expensive

If you are trying to learn how to trade, let me tell you one thing, it’s VERY expensive. The seminars are expensive, the books are expensive (some aren’t though — there are exceptions on this one), the tools are expensive (Metastock — $500, RET Trader — $1K), even the ’specialty’ semi-seminar is expensive (I’m talking about QST; $1K — quantum swing trader here — among many). And the most important thing is, it takes a LOT of time.

So if you have a day job (or fresh graduate out of college), never expect to jump right through to trade for a living. Better stay with your job (or get a job for fresh grad) and learn trading while you’re still at it. This way, you still have enough cushion to ‘hold-things-up’ if anything happened to your trading account and it will buy you time to learn from your mistakes.

The most important thing of all, it’s the bad trades that teaches you, not the good one. One day you might have a winning streak and you thought that you already understand all is needed to ‘tame’ the market, but another day your consecutive bad trade will wipe you out of the game.
