Messing with the Design (again)

I’m growing really unsatisfied with my current design. Everything seemed not on the right place with the site is very hard to navigate around (at least that’s what I, and several other friends, think) and the color combination is really hard for the eye (not to mention that sometimes the site breaks on Internet Explorer).

I have attempted a re-design last month and it totally blew off. But this time I really had a good feeling that everything might laid out just as planned. More readable sites with a strong identity (hopefully — it’s pretty ‘white’ though), easier on the eye, and easier to navigate. I’m going to do that today so I can’t post anything about the US stock market today since my eyes are going to be fixated on design project rather than glued to price ticker monitor.

All stop-looses have been put in places and now I’m ready to work ;)

But if I my sugest you, you should concider that some people won’t load images from any website to reduce the data transfer. Especially for people whom using GPRS or CDMA based connection. Take me as example. So maybe you can put a litle more nice text alternates for those images or tricking the style sheets so it won’t messing up all design when you unload the images. ;)

hmm I think the sidebar looks very confusing… it seems that this site has only 1 block of loooongg sidebar, when it actually has many blocks of it. i think you need to make the sidebar’s title bigger, change the color of the sidebar’s title, or make the margins between sidebars bigger.. hmm that’s what i think..

I sorta agree with amellie. Maybe a slightly darker color for the sidebar though. Grey maybe, nothing drastic. And the Tags seem to be bunced up together. At least the first line. All in all, you can’t go wrong with white. But I like color. At least its not too ‘busy’ looking.

@preaxz: Thanks for the advice. If you try to access this site from a PDA or Smartphone (or even any mobile phone), you will notice that it has a different design (simpler with no image). I’m using a plugin that identifies the user-agent for this purpose

@amellie: that’s the problem I’m trying to ‘control’ on previous site re-design but I’m lack the skills to do it! I’m going to re-try it again on this one ;)

@omninaif: thanks! A comment well taken and I think I will implement it. Not with color plays but more with font plays (bigger font to separate one from another.

@hanindyo: Halo, saya juga sudah install pluginnya and I have to say, it works great on my mobile phone! Tapi emang siapa ya yang bela - belain ke blog ini dari mobilephone? Pulsa mahal bo!
