Quadza Site Finished

Well after 8 hours messing with the design, including toying with squible, k2, and also kiwi, I’ve decided that this will be Quadza’s design. It’s not like what I have expected it to be, but at least it won’t hurt your eyes when you read the entries ;)

I have impelemnted the use of tags and manage the post categories and link categories. I think the technical aspects of the site is done and finished and now I have to get ready to pour some quality writings to the site.

I’m so sorry for you guys who have left a comment on this blog as it seems to be neglected. Well, I’m already on a 6 hours coding straight and with little or no progress and I still have two more sites to go. I’ll try to get back to you guys sometime later earlier in the morning (my time, GMT +7).

todo list:

  • write some entries, content is king
  • review cross-browser compatibility
  • start promoting the site (feed, search engine, forums, mailing list, etc)
  • messing with the feeds.
  • take 2 hours rest
  • well… do you have any input for the design and the overall site feel?
  • Information and Links

More and more, this blog give me some sense of creep of a very serious blogger with countless sleepless hours of plugin tweakin’ and CSS-thingy.

    :D

    Okay then, I’m gonna b*tch* here :
    1. Design is good. Kubrick is good “as-is” Wordpress standard themes.
    2. The AJAX this.. AJAX that.. please, consider pople who have not-so-fast internet connection speed (i.e : me). My last projects are AJAX based, the first is using AJAX.NET and second is utilizing Ruby. Both are nightmares, and PHP’s AJAX implementation is worst, from a humble programmer perspective (i.e : me, again).
Usually it takes twice or thrice before I succesfully posted a comment on flashy-blog with AJAX behind all crimes.
    3. Tag (honoring Web 2.0 hype : Taxonomy).
I see it different way : using tag is reflecting about not-so-well-thought blog. Wordpress do tagging via category, so category is where I stand. Carefully planned blog should have well-organized categories, so tagging is useless.
(unless, it’s link blog kinda like delicious or something).

Ouch… I did say it. Sorry.

    *kabuuurr*

dah berapa lama begadang bikin web? hehehe typical IT people :P

@Andry: Well not really, because I always overslept in the morning and over-wake at night :D. Well here we go:

    1. Thanks (well… I didn’t make Kubrick so it should go to Michael)

    2. No I don’t use AJAX for that site except for the archive (simply because I love how the archive works :)). No AJAX on comment nor on the live search. No AJAX either on the contact form. However, this blog does use AJAX for the contact form. In the future, I’ll try not to use AJAX.

    3. You mean folksonomy? Well this blog isn’t well thought :D, but quadza is different because it’s very segmented. I already made like 7 categories to use that’s relating business and technology. And I use tags not because I can’t find the right category for a post, but simply because some category just have a very wide material to discuss and making a sub-category of it is not an option (I don’t like making sub-categories on WP, messed up with the post count).

So I think after your critiques, I will try and use categories just as important as tags.

Mohon maaf lahir batin juga :D, ga papa lagi. Kritiknya membangun kok.

@Amalia: Hm… ga lama - lama juga. Biasa lah, bangun jam 9 pagi, tidur jam 2 malem, you know… overslept and overwake :), shifting the sleeping schedule.

Wooh.. iya itu maksud saya.. Folksonomy, bukan Taxonomy (sic). Beginilah akibatnya kalo ngeblog kurang begitu serius :D

andry: maksudnya theloop.php sama sidebar.php kali mas. Header sih emang cuma satu file :).

Yah K2 memang agak bermasalah. Well, guess what. Saya matikan semua AJAXnya :) Ukuran file theme K2 memang besar tapi saya rasa file2nya termasuk standar ko.

I’m not very good with colors.
