Business Brainstorm

In the last several weeks, I have met some very creative people, in my standard, in business. They might have not known this but they’ve given me some new insights about businesses that I’m about to embark. By some, I actually meant two people that gave me a new idea on how to manage and use my resources on blogging.

I love blogging and I found it as a powerful tools to spread your messages throughout the world. And coupled with a very powerful script, there’s nothing a blog couldn’t do and that’s what based my decision on using blog as my business drive.

Usually, the core business concept to gain some profit via blogging is by putting as many ads on your site and if you are using a PPC method, pray that your visitors will click those links. Somehow along the way on preparing to launch my business which is based solely on ads, there’s a new business concept on which profit does not mainly comes from ads.

I will not tell you about that before I launch the business which is likely to be next month. However, atop that business model, I also figured out a new business model that serves the company just as the same opportunities. I got this idea when I’m on a casual chat with Zaki.

He’s asking me on what would his future business be. He has been struggling on a media business for more than two years now and he felt that in Indonesia, the sunset of offline media is approaching fast. He does not believe that the new form of media and the old one will live as a parallel.

He, however, believed that only one can comes out victorious after a gruelsome fight and he believes it’s the new media. And since I am setting my business just around the new form of publication, he’s asking, what’s the next big idea.

“Blogging”, I said. It empowers people and people love to be heard. So we then talked about what’s the most suitable profit center for this new kind of business. I won’t say that this process is a brainstorming process but nonetheless, we got the results and would hapily implement it after lebaran. I know, the sooner the better, but with the current conditions, I’m not sure we can do anything before it. Again, the results of the brainstorming is still a secret, I will post about it here after the launch of the product.

But there’s one product of brainstorming that I won’t make it as a secret. It’s what Eric and I did yesterday. After he helped me on tidying up the inline asides, I’m asking him what could we do about blogwalking.com (the domain). At first I wanted to use it as a blog portal, but later he suggested me to turn it as an asides only blog, the one that looked alike boingboing.net.

I know that it’s not a fresh idea since there’s already dozens of link blog out there, but nonetheless, what made the idea very special is the domain its self. I consider my self very lucky to be able to buy this domain since it clearly represents what it contains. The link of sites which you can blogwalk. Creative! (well but still, do tell me what you think)

Having a catchy name is always helpful. And these days, a simple name even harder to get. so if you have let’s say, eric.com or oscar.com, it will be highly priced :)

So, yeah, blogwalking is a good one. (Actually I prefer blogwalker, but blogwalking will do)
And I myself have changed my post into Asides. Somehow. It is more fun. I will still post long entry though, but it won’t be much. So goodluck with blogwalking.com. I’ll help you as much as I can (not much time, too many blogs :))

Well, someone already brought blogwalker so I think we have to suffice with blogwalking for now :)

looking forward to it dude…

I think it’s interesting how you can market something now with the patronization of the personal voice (viz. blogging). I think it’s really cool.

I was just thinking about you “Indonesian version of The Apprentice” post, and now I wonder how Donald Trump would take on that idea. =P

Hopefully you can try to work on that idea and try to make a business solution through blogging. =)

@seven: Just wait and see my friend :)

@Marz: You have to read the link I gave about how much is Donald really worth. You’ll get the big picture :)

Saya menunggu kelanjutan ceritanya. Dan, sukses buat Anda!

@dv: Heh, proximity? Dasar anak fikom… :P

@Nofie: Ntar yah abis lebaran :)
