Recent Happenings…
Some of you might wonder, what happened to my writings titled “Republik yang telah Mati”. Well, don’t worry I’m not cancelling the essays, I still work on it, gathering more facts and building more arguments around the essay. Come to think of it, I think the writings doesn’t qualify as an essay anymore… It’s safe to call it a mini-book (although you can find essay that long) because of the length and the magnitude of the writings its self. Plus, it won’t be titled as “Republik yang telah Mati” anymore because I’m taking case in a larger scope, the nations of the third world (plus the developed country too).
I would like to include some interviews with policy makers, businessmen (and women), civilian with different backgrounds, and many more… I’m still trying to get the permission from my university to justify my activities (you know… interviewing people and stuffs…). So just wait for the show time :-) (FYI, it will be available for download for free when it’s finished under the Creative Common license)
Another recent happenings will be, of course, the death of Nurcholis Madjid. I don’t like him too much, especially with his activity on JIL but nontheless, I’m not going to write about my political-point-of-view on this thread.
There will be another discussion about in later time, let’s now move on to my everyday activities. IMA Unpad has successfully held the international jamu event last week and I’m currently making contacts with various people in various position to further promote our buletin, Marketing Insight, to expand in quality and also distribution. We will also held a seminar themed “Cultivating the Entrepreneurial Culture” in association with Lembaga Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat UNPAD this September (5-7 to be exact).
As a keynote speaker, we will invite Paulus Winarto (writer of “First Step to be an Entrepreneur”), Marius Widyarto (to be confirmed — Owner of C59), and M.A. Zaki (owner of Entrepreneur Indonesia magazine), and a speaker for Standard Jabar Ventura to coach new entrepreneur on how to make a fine business plan and a sound financial decision. Limited seats for only 50 people.
Business is good. We only have 1 customer that hasn’t paid for their dues and one of our biggest clients, StarNews, has paid the hosting and also the design fee and it’s time to pay dividend to our shareholders — at last after 2 years… I’m not sure about this but probably I’m just going to let go my web hosting business with reason that I will discuss in another entry.
Meanwhile, I’m thinking of starting another business(es). One of them is definitely a corporate workshop program. I’m still looking ways to fund the business by myself and run it with Zaki. I’m thinking of selling my car but one of my mentor said that it would be better if I just leased my car and someday get it back with lease back method. All and all, I’m still looking ways to fund it.
The other business is an online shop. No surprise in that right :). Still planning because if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
The last happenings in my world is… I’m going to Sweden on Friday. My dad’s having a conference there so I’m free to roam stockholm (hey… that is Sweden right?) all by myself (and with my mom that is…). My brother isn’t coming with us because my parents think that he still needs some time to settle in with Bandung. I’m going to visit Volvo factory if I have the time while I’m there and doing some interviews with their marketing director (or marketing staffs… or anyone for that matter from Volvo).
If I found a free Wi-Fi hotspot, I’ll try to give you guys a heads-up on what I’m doing there. Until then, see you later :-)
PS: I’m so sorry that I can’t do blogwalking lately. Writing that essay, making business plans, sleeping, and organizing stuffs is really occupying me. I’ll try to do blogwalking as soon as I found a hotspot on the airport :).
