About Me and This Site v1
Hello guys. This is my newest site and I hope this site will be the most serious site I manage (the previous is only worth a joke). This site will host numerous (all, actually) of my articles that I made for serious purposes (college assignments, call-for-papers, etc.) or just some bablings (articles that I write just because I wanted to write). Beside hosting my articles, this site will also be a blog of a simple man (in other word, my blog).
I’ve tried several types of CMS, from the complex one (Mambo, PHPNuke, Drupal, Xaraya, Xoops, Typo3) to the simple one (CuteNews, Nucleus, p2Machine, B2Evo) and I found that WordPress is the easiest to manage. Well, it’s not as powerful as my dream CMS (Mambo) though, but I think I can live with it.
Enough of this site, let’s start with who I am.
My name is Oskar Syahbana and I’m just a simple person trying to make a living. That might seems a little cliche, but it’s true. I was born on March 23rd 1986 and currently studying management in University of Padjadjaran, Bandung. I love messing (note: messing) with computer since I was a kid and still do now, although not as intense as it used to be. I have one siblings as my younger brother and now live in Bandung. Trying to struggle to make my self different from other student, I came up with the idea of having my own site.
There are many people out there have a website, usually a blog. This is true. Just ‘having’ a site is not enough, you have to fill it with quality content too. In this site, I’m trying to provide the readers with quality articles that I made my self (or from other source with the writer’s consent). The articles its self was taken from the happenings around my life (mostly about business world since I’m majoring in business management anyway). So expect the articles to be mainly about marketing, branding, and change management since those field gravitates my interest the most. The articles its self varies between Bahasa Indonesia or English (my mother tounge is Bahasa but I’m learning to use English more often now)
For the future, I would also like to learn more about finance since it’s useless if you run a marketing campaign but cannot calculate the benefits of the brand value. This includes the calculations of EVA (Economic Added Value), VAM (Value Added Management), CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index), Business Valuation and stuff like that. I’m still learning all that though (found a good book called Marketing Engineering — the finance of marketing).
In the long run, I wanted to have my very own mass media company, be it a newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, internet portal, or any other means like it. As I mentioned earlier (have I mentioned it?), I really love spreading my thoughts to other people. Probably owning my own consulting office will be a good addition :-).
In the short-run, I wanted to open my own distribution outlet (some maybe call it distro). This is not just an ordinary one, but a different one with a unique concept. I’ll post it up here after I finished preparing. I also have to improve my grade in college since some of my class that involve numbers end up suck.
